Pardon my truancy! I have been bogged down with revision and to add to the woe, my internet has not been most kind. As stated in my previous blog, my bandwidth limit had been exceeded for the month. The good news? It's the 31st! I assure you that updates will be more frequent in the next few weeks until my bandwidth runs out again... The past week has been super quiet for me. Wake, gym, study, run, wake, gym, run...
Yesterday had been a little more engaging. First off, I had a cycling session penned in for training. The scenic Bronte beach was the choice of attack as the mega-long uphills are great for high-intensity workouts. Alas, as fate would have it, I did not make it there. I was descending down a steep hill at around 50km/h until I heard a strange noise from under my bike. It sounded like a piece of paper being stuck on my wheel. I did a quick check whilst on the bike but nothing seemed amiss. Suddenly my tail wheel did a quick wobble gave me the fright of my life. The thought of hitting the tarmac at such high speed with cars and street lamps either side of me was not so enticing. Thus, I stopped immediately and took a good look. My first punctured tire! My training ended before it began. But if there was one thing I was proud of was the way I carried myself home. Although the road of defeat was long (20 min to get home), I made it a point to have my head held high (pretending to be oblivious to onlookers in cafes).
Another high point was the excellent culinary skills I realised I possessed. The normal Terence Koh style is to throw every ingredient into the wok. Well, I must admit that dinner started that way. I came home from grocery shopping and realised that we ran out of pasta (my quick fix). My first thought was: Rice Bolognese isn't so bad (yeah right...). And so I started cooking my improvised dish as I normally would with a few extra ingredients I found in the fridge. My second obstacle was the rice. I chucked it in the microwave but it turned out that I did not add enough water. Oops. I added a bit more water and put it in for another couple of minutes. When it came out, it was a bit wet. Double oops. However, my uber quick thinking created my best dish ever. I decided to fry the rice with my sauce and the outcome was fully sick considering I had not planned on this at all. I hereby name it... The Fried Rice!. Cool huh!
One last thing I forgot to mention. Halloween!!! The best dress up goes to the woman I passed by on the streets. She painted herself blue and had this silly conical hat without the rims on. Smurf! I couldn't help myself from grinning when she walked by looking a bit embarrassed. Well done!
