At Mad For Garlic with my dearest Toddler Bitch. An old friend is always a good friend :)
The Golden Boys, Russell and Terence :) Was a most exciting time following their competition throughout the Games. So happy for this 5-month-and-counting partnership. Cheers to more successes!
The Terences Koh and Choo :)
Doll & Terence
Doll and myself zi pai at Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao T3.
This photo cannot resize to 7.3cm length cos I love it. Check out the poster I made for my darling. WOOHOO!! Irony was that I had to shade the background silver cos the gold crayon was missing HAHA.
So this was my 1st birthday celebration, on the 2nd of October, with all my favourite cousins at CM-PB Dempsey :) Thoroughly enjoyed the night, and the lychee mojito was pretty solid. Hence the slightly flushed look I adopted at some point. That it was rather quiet on a Sunday night also gave me the liberty to get happy high and loud. And giggly. Photo spam ahead!
Thor and Cleopatra
Wore this new Topshop pouffy dress from a couple of years back. It's been sitting in my wardrobe for ages, and just happens to be my friend Mel's favourite piece HAHA.
Mei mei!
Was THRILLED with this present from my aunt. As you can see, you can attach the device to your handheld and receive/make calls from there. Am SO gonna whip it out on the mrt one day, watch me!!!
I believe I was thanking the gift-giver herself at this point.
Calamari. Too much batter, and the squid was too chewy. Not fun. Very tiring for the jaws.
Wagyu pizza. The mushrooms were really awesome. I'm not sure such thick beef slices should be on pizzas though. In other news, I have decided not to consume beef for awhile after reading some articles on red meat. I'm 12 days clean, and still too in love with bacon to give up pork at the mo.
Rosti was not bad. Anything potatoey has my vote. However, I have yet to have better Rostis than those at Marche and Cedele. As for the sausage. HAHAHA. This has got to be the most sexual-looking food I've seen in awhile. Of course we all know sausage = phallic, but this one additionally also looks like a lactating nipple OMG. HAHAHAHAHAHA or is it just me?!
Split this burger like, 6 ways, so I can't really judge it well. Bacon was too good though ;)
Me again, still having fun.
Heh heh
ANDDDDDDDDD the pinoy brings in my supplies cookies and cream cheesecake baked by my very own sister and Hui!!! :)))))))
I love to laugh unglamly!
That awkward moment when everyone is singing you a birthday song and you don't quite know where to look...........
.....................
So many cameras!!! Get them away from me!!!!! HAHHAHHAA
Better than Bakerzin's. The crunchy biscuit at the bottom-most layer was heaven. AND. They only used 2 eggs for the whole cake. Or so they say.
Just watched Real Steel earlier on, and cried till my eyes are so fatigued. Now I try to recall what I was so moved by, and I must admit that I don't really know haha. Wanted to post up some photos of my numerous birthday celebrations but now I think nahhh. Shall go read up on the Titanic instead. Tomorrow. Enjoy what's left of the weekend!!!
I'll admit that I haven't been reading much since graduation, that sometimes it's something that I must force myself to do because my attention span is incredibly, amazingly short. So this is from the most unlikely of places, John Wyndham's The Chrysalids, this year's O-level text. It's Science Fiction, and was also my required reading so that I could tutor my kid. I haven't read a more beautiful/poetic representation of what we call love:
"So you're in love with her?" she went on.
"A word again... When the minds have learnt to mingle, when no thought is wholly one's own, and each has taken too much of the other ever to be entirely himself alone; when one has reached the beginning of seeing with a single eye, loving with a single heart, enjoying with a single joy; when there can be moments of identity and nothing is separate save bodies that long for one another... When there is that, where is the word? There is only the inadequacy of the word that exists."
"We love one another," I said.
I hope that everyone at some point in their lives experiences this inadequacy. Happy October :)
Today, Bency and I went dating. HAHA.. like a full day of lunch, shopping, movie and dinner. Lunch was awesome Cedele. I'm usually not a sharer but if you love bacon you MUST go try Cedele's BLT. Best on either Focaccia or Ciabatta. It's all SUPER SALTY goodness and they are very generous with their bacon.
Then we moved on to shopping but nothing from the usual haunts. I was looking for this particular pair of sandals from Aldo and they were sold out in the colour I wanted. I was going to settle for a 2nd choice colour but they didn't have it in my size as well. And I don't believe there is only ONE outlet in the City Hall area and like, ten in town. So I was a little miffed about that, particularly also because my only purchase was an extra charger for my BB. I saw this super cute Dale (of the famed Chip and Dale pairing haha) in some claw machine (haha I hope this is a proper term) and I wanted it so much for my sister! It was sitting in a donut float omg damn cute. Then I asked the shop assistant if I could just pay for the toy full price and she looked very shocked HAHAHA. As you can tell, I believe very much in the "you never know until you try" mantra. Okok so anyway the Aldo thing was realllllyyyyy bugging me so I decided to call up the branches one by one till I found what I wanted. Bingo on my first try! :) And that made me very happy!
Johnny English Reborn was really enjoyable! Rowan Atkinson is atually quite dapper in it; I dunno if it's because I've only ever seen him in Black Adder, Thin Blue Line and Mr.Bean. I'm also a renowned sucker for a beautiful English accent in a good manly tone (*ahem Beckham and Hamilton) so there was that too. This sequel is much better than the original and Atkinson has aged very very well. His wife is gorgeous too you can wiki her.
Dinner was Kolo mee with fried wanton SLURPSSSSSS. And that was my Monday. No pictures cos it was all rather casual food. Shall leave you with photos from lunch at Tung Lok Signatures and dinner at Peperoni Pizza from erh, 2 weeks ago I think. The food at Tung Lok was really excellent, if slightly pricier than the Crystal Jade and Imperial chains. The pizza was very good but I think you generally can never get the same SHIOK feeling from eating pizza as say, orh lua and sambal stingray in one sitting. Nor dim sum for that matter. Great week to everyone! :)
*sheepish smile. This is what I've been doing for the past 2 weeks, more or less. I know that my tardiness is unpardonable, but time really passes damn quickly when you're having fun and suddenly... BAM! 2 weeks of absence from blogging. Well, the first day of the month is better than any other for a fresh new start :) Happy September!
At Gusttimo Ion for dessert and drinks after dinner at Tony Romas
HAHAHA I don't know la. WeiX insisted on having his photo taken with his face like that. I like the girl in the background. She looks happy!
Ed and Bobo. Bobo that day never pull his weight. Ate half a rack of ribs and after was struggling through his milkshake. How can?!
My mojito was not bad. One of the better ones I've had, with sufficient alcohol to make me a leeeeetle bit intoxicated :)
Haahaha the guys went to "the toilet" and secretly placed an order for this for Terence. He's too smart to be surprised la, but it was a commendable effort!
While the guys dug into the cake with the oozy choc, I grabbed the brown and dainty ice cream cone instead. Turned out to be mocha flavour, not bad.
What to say... I really love Terence so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
During our Boboque. Portobello mushrooms! Pretty good. If I HAD to turn vegetarian I guess this would be my meat substitute.
Hahaha nice shot of Jehmy and his muscles. He is otherwise known as Magneto Eng.
Terence is a pretty good Satay man.
"Eh dear!! Take picture with me!!!" Terence turns and smiles, and a sausage drops on the floor, hence this shot. Hahahaha
The guys being very retarded about sucking the potong ice cream. I really don't know what they were laughing about.
Introducing Gerry! :)
Erh. Terence was sitting on a stool hence the height difference. Here, I am holding up a piece of my caramelised pineapple which was really good! It loses all acidity after being on the fire.
Bobo is seducing the camera.
My favourite. For my birthday I'm going to ask for a whole plate of this. TO MYSELF. No sharing. At Singapore Swimming Club with family.
HAHAHA this is my gramma. My sis and I were already posing when gramma decided to ditch us and have a conversation with don't know who. So ok lor. I carried on having fun :)
Gramma is so funny ok. Look at what I'm wearing. Then look at her. She can't take any degree of coldness and she looks like she's in the Arctic or something.
Hahahaha damn fun. And my sister act guai and obediently stepped out from the frame.
Finallllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
With my pretty awesome aunt. I reckon she looks like Mongolian royalty.
Here's loverboy :))))
And his accidentally artistic shot of me. You can see me in motion if you look carefully. HAHA.
Inspiration in the most random of places- a backdated May issue of Shop Til You Drop, under Mother's Day gift ideas. I know there are loads of these motivational stuff floating around, but all the above seem like stuff I can really work on. It's not a perfect list though; I think one should sing ALOT also, no matter how badly :) But it'll do for now. And just btw, I don't sing badly. Or so I say. HAHA!
So this was about 2 months ago now, our 8th anniversary. HUAT AH! We had a staycation as usual, and I read some negative reviews about this particular hotel with trepidation only after we made a non-refundable payment. I was still quietly hopeful however, and my optimism paid off because service was really wonderful and we got upgraded to a "honeymoon" suite due to overbooking :) The suite was hugeee and basically 3 rooms conjoined. One was a random meeting room with a whiteboard, and I did wonder why honeymooners would need it. Hahahaa but anyway, this saw us calling room service in the middle of the night asking for a whiteboard marker cos we wanted to play hangman, and the staff was damn blur and asked if we had a meeting going on. So hilarious. Ok bye!
So beautiful and glamourous, the dressing table!
Pleased as punch with this silk topshop playsuit which I dug out from my closet. It was crinkly and therefore a bitch to iron, but ahh. Hadn't seen it in years!
Post-dinner. I don't do too well with taking photos in restaurants cos it seems quite noob. But I will try to from now, because I've recently become obsessed with food since school ended, and it's basically what Terence and I do most of the time when not watching masterchef. I'm very proud of the way Singaporeans eat. I believe that if good food continues to be all around and the talentless tiongs leave, we can eventually become the happiest country in the world. Amen.
living area, with meeting room on left, and bedroom on right.
Hahaha yes, the bedroom also has a living area.
HAHAHA just anyhow go and plant the camera somewhere, set the timer then run back to grab Terence.
This was the day after, at our first outing at Fat Boys'. Look at this terrible boy. Always happens when I try to take a photo of him.
Or this.
Not like me. So happy after 2 naps and sure looking like I just woke up HAHAHAHAA.
It's just going to be these photos for now, sans captions, because I think they speak for themselves. 29th July, the day of my convocation, and this was the celebration dinner the same night. The theme was colours of the rainbow, and I was glad that everyone did appear to try their best to be colourful despite the absence of orange, yellow and violet :)
Don't read on if you're hungry, cos the duck looks MIGHTY AWESOME, all crisp and shiny OOH LA LA. My cousin and I, after our table's duck was stripped bare, were actually planning to run off with the next table's duck as the skin was being carved. I'm not sure if she was serious, but I think I felt my feet slowly shift towards the door, only restrained by the thought that I can't have a criminal charge on my head when I JUST got my degree. Also, there are some shameless self-shots in this post which look quite noob, because my cousin was extolling the virtues of her new DSLR and kept persuading me to try the zi pai function with the swivel screen and all. So yes, these photos courtesy of her.
In other news, I found the wire/cable (what do you call it?) for my camera, and therefore have no more need for a cardreader (YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Ok, so more photos from Convocation proper up soon. Happy August! :)
I'm pretty sure any girl can identify with me on this, that there are some things we absolutely hate to spend money on. And that is why I still am stuck in the above situation. I consider myself to be very self-indulgent, and generous to those around me, but I can never part with my money to buy exercise gear, electronics (like hard disks or whatever), and basics. Recently I had to look for a tank top to pair with my skirts cos the black Topshop one I always wear is ribbed and stretched from washing so it sort of bunches up uglily at the sides, and I found it SO HARD to even put down like, about sgd $12 for one from asos. And anyway, it came, and it wasn't ideal and now I'll just use it as sleepwear I guess. LE SIGH.
Ok, so some old photos first for the time being. I'll finish posting up my Aussie ones before continuing with mbs, and hopefully by then, I would have been forced into a Courts/Best Denki by TK to purchase some $15 cardreader. Enjoy what's left of the weekend! :)
So cute right?? But abit random la.
Shoofie! On our day out at Moonlight Cinema at Centennial Park. It's basically just an outdoor screening of new-ish movies or classics during Summer in Aussie.
But as you can see here, it was abit overcast, and slightly drizzly, and about maybe a third into the movie it started pouring down and we had to start packing our picnic stuff in the dark before running back to the car some slight distance away. Hahahaha.. I think running in the rain can be fun if the rain is really awesomely heavy. And we got compensated with another ticket to another screening of our choice.
Kewei and I at Sydney Opera House! Again, was another drizzly summer day.
Because our friends had to head back to Singapore before they could find another evening to schedule in Moonlight again, this time it was just Terence and I for singalong Grease Night!!!! :) Super fun, and at the entrance there were people dressed up in their latex outfits, hair all slicked back and groovy, ready to spray us patrons with Mozzie repellent! :)
At Singalong Grease. I had such a great great time. I vow to learn all my lyrics properly before the next one, cos there's nothing worse than really feeling like singing and you have to hum to fill in the spaces!! Hahaha.. the crowd is really awesome, people singing and dancing along. I love Grease cos the ELDDS did a production in secondary school and it just is such a classic.
