Feels like a Friday :)
Just wrote a scathing letter to SQ after seeing yet another tiong stewardess in a kebaya. I will not give up the good fight. Will keep you all posted when they reply :) Why was I at the airport? Well, cos someone's back again :)))))))))))) Guess who. HAHA! yay! Well, harros.
Did the week go swimmingly for you? Mine was quite bland, after ALL the excitement and fun of the past weeks. I think that, apart from that painful essay, Bency and I did spend all of (OMG. Ok, am just only realising it now looking at ical) almost one month just spacing out, having a jolly good time and eating our way around singapore. And watching lots of SouthPark :) We did hawker centres (Zion Road rules), food courts (Food Republic, Food Junction...), as well as Bakerzin, Spize, Cedele, Brekkos, Sushi Tei (like, twice), Ichiban Boshi, Swensen's, Haagan Dazs, TGI Friday's, Xin Wang HK Cafe (also twice), Waraku, Midsummer's Nite Breeze, Coffee Club, Crystal Jade La Mian, Crystal Jade Korean BBQ, tong shui cafe and many more I cannot recall. Imagine, during his whole stay here we only ate home twice (once at mine, once at his). And in between, we bubble-tead, starbucked, ben and jerried and island creameried cos apparently I have a newly-discovered sweet tooth. All our hongbao monies went into our tummies :) Whoops ok, stomach growling now. Procrastinated for the longest time, and then started preparing on Wed for our presentation later on, Friday morning. It's so hard, but I am S-L-O-W-L-Y adjusting back to school life. Tomorrow, I will step into NTU grounds after 1 month and a day away. So amazing seriously. Used up all my remaining S/U credits because I am not willing to play crazy catch-up for 5 modules. All this gloom aside, though, there were some pretty awesome things that happened this week: 1. Uncle Nehe and Jasmine welcomed Baby Thaddeus into the world yesterday! 2. My wonderful poly friends came over last night for Rebecca's flea market, and all left with bags of pre-loved goodies :))) We also took baby steps (HAHAHA. Omg pardon the pun please. Not, not intended at all) in planning for our childcare centre that we're opening in the future. I am in charge of PR and application decisions (rubs hands in glee), although not my regular job of course. Ok, yes, it's a far dream but I have a feeling that when we commit, we can make it happen!!! :) 3. I was looking at dates for my two-month trip to Aussieland already (Sydney and Brisbane this time), and the folks will be putting down their monies for it soon! 4. I got my final hongbao (HAHA. Taotao, I got less than you by $8!), but was told not to regard it as a hongbao cos not huat to give hongbao after CNY. Still, it was the bees' knees!!! What a surprise. 5. Mel called me from MEH-HI-CO!!! :)))))) My familiar friend and her familiar voice. We could almost have been arranging to meet in town or something. I miss her. 6. I am so much closer to next week, and next week is going to bring good things (shhh. Secret!) Ok so anw, Simon Says (or said, rather)...... that Kara dioguardi speaks (or spoke) "utter rubbish" and I almost wept in agreement. She HAS to be the most annoying person on the planet. So lame-ass dramatic, with such a gratingly high-pitched accent to boot. American Idol is SO BORING, and the contestants so utterly forgettable, that I shall not try to sit through any more episodes, no matter how much others are talking about it, and despite it being Simon's last. Ya ya I know. Some pictures soon instead of wordy posts. I will get down to it la. Goodnight! :) I think that it really is terribly difficult to squeeze in more space in your heart for others when it already has been taken up by one person wholly. So I just shut the rest out. There is no more room! And I have NO tolerance for you.
Not addressed to anyone. I'm just being pensive. Because I'm thinking that if someone asks someone I know: is Rebecca nice?, the answer quite likely could be: very selectively. And I hope to God that my friends and all loved ones know how much they are cherished by me no matter how nasty I can be to others. Faithful and steadfast; only for them. Which I hope neutralizes/ cancels out the hostility with which I approach everyone else with. I don't exactly regret it, but I do admire those who are so innately kind to all of humanity. HOW? Ok, my reflective moment has ended. I broke my left thumb nail!!! BEFORE my manicure next week! :( Urgh. Looking forward x1 gazillion to next Thurs and Friday. So, so blessed :) caught Alice in Wonderland in 3D earlier in the day :) needless to say, I had concerns about the hygiene standards of the glasses but I brushed them away with the comforting knowledge that my pores had already been clogged by the exhaust/perspiration that built up on my skin's surface from the walk from my place to GWC, so no extra harm done. HAHAHA :)
Well anyway, it was MORE THAN FABULOUS! But my advice to 3D virgins like me is please do blot your nose (if you have oily skin a la moi) for the glasses to stay on as they are already wide and ill-fitting enough as it is. And to the general public, do not have a icetallnowhipmocha (but that's how the baristas always say it!) before the movie as you will be slightly squirming towards the end of it trying to hold in your pee :) Johnny Depp is unrecognisable, so to all fans who are watching it just for him I hope you find other reasons to love the film for. Helena Bonham Carter as Red Queen is FREAKIN' HILARIOUS and I so wanna copy her lipstick style one day. YES I DARE. ok no, not really hahaha! The Cheshire Cat IS ULTRA DUPER MEGA CUTE!!! Bency correctly pointed out that he is the wrong colour (ok, but then again. I'm not sure the book specifies? Cos anyway the cheshire in purple just well might be another Disney interpretation). His teeth is really crazy beastly though but it doesn't subtract from his adorability factor. OMG. Weebly did not highlight 'adorability'. PEOPLE!!! ADORABILITY IS A WORD!!! Hahaha... I know I probably sound high but I am not. Bedtime soon. Twiddledee and Twiddledum are (more accurately is, if you want to be snooty about it since they are the same person essentially) quite lovable as well. They are played by the wonderful Matt Lucas who also stars in the Little Britain series which Bency and I watch so we had an AHA! moment in the cinema just now haha. I am quite sure that if you're after authenticity you might be disappointed cos I have a slight inkling that the story-line has been tweaked, but catch it nonetheless! If you're really into vibrant, vivid hues (not the pastel-ey kawaii puke-puke-puke type of shades) just like me you MUST watch it just for the colours! :) And there are cute animals as well! The film was not as dark as I had expected (which is a plus point) so I just had a great adventure throughout! :) Ok, I don't really want to write much more so I'll be brief with my thoughts on the DVDs. Let's see... from the Pirates' series, Dead Man's Chest and At World's End were pretty entertaining although I lost track of the plot at some points. Too confusing. Chow Yun Fat had much more palatable spoken English than say, Jet Li, but he died too soon!!! And please. SOOOO glad that rumour has it that Kiera and Orlando won't be signing on for more of the franchise. I think the former's jaw looks really bad, while as for the latter, just calling him an actor is paying him too much of a compliment. Plus he's with gross Miranda so minus one million points :) The Damned United (which is the soccer biopic I mentioned in my previous post) was good! About a manager who led Derby County to its glorious high, then left to Leeds United after being sacked, and who then only lasted 44 days there. It's very much a documentary but perspective-based, but it's not overtly guy-ish because the themes of ambition, intent and loyalty everyone can relate to. Time Traveller's Wife made me cry like a silly dilly. Was quite touched by the couple's love for each other, and also by Rachel McAdam's beauty. HAHAHA. Was telling Bency that if the film is too soppy for him, at least he can feast his eyes on some eye candy. Of course, he just pretended he didn't hear me. Kate Beckinsale is unrivalled yo. HAHAHA :) Hmmm... Again, the film content probably strayed quite far from the novel itself, but I didn't read the book (couldn't finish it; got too confused by the time-travelling business) so I can't say for sure. The movie inspired me to think again about how much I do love my fiance, but it did not move me much; not life-changing. Right now, I have not much of an impression of it in my head. And that is why we love literature don't we? Because books and texts move us in ways that other mediums can never do :)))))) Finally, Julie and Julia was an utter letdown. I am usually extremely generous with my criticism of movies (I mean, I dunno. I liked Wolfman while the rest of the world shot it down hahaha) but I honestly could not wait for the movie to end. The plot was going NOWHERE, Meryl Streep whom I do love was speaking in a MOST ANNOYING manner, Amy Adams was being SO WHINY and looked TOO PLAIN, while the men similarly gave NO SPARK. And the food did not appeal to me at all. Only the bruschetta I guess. And I did see some mozzarella and brie haha. Ok enough. Good night friends! Happy weekend to y'all! So super happy now that I've handed in my essay :)))))) Finished at 4am and celebrated later in the day by renting 6 dvds at VideoEzy!!! Julie&Julia, Time Traveler's Wife, The Ugly Truth, Dead Man's Chest, At World's End and some random soccer biopic (I think) which Bency chose!
It feels like the weekend AGAIN!!!! :)))) Anyway, I unearthed some random shots from my sister's camera. |
