Sorry for the long hiatus friends! Before I get back into the swing of things, some pics first. This is my cousin Linnet and I on the Gold Coast. Compared to Bondi, GC has more ocean, less sand. See the photos to get what I mean. Hmmm. Maybe more awe-inspiring but doesn't quite have the happening-ness of Bondi. But what an unfair statement to make anyway. It's winter now, what am I expecting. A stampede? Sheesh. And I remember Lin commenting that I'm quite photogenic. In response, I had to fight the absolute urge to throw myself on the sand and laugh my head off. What I did instead was more like, grip her arm and just incredulously tell her that that is not a possibility until I start practising my angles. HAHAHA. Okok, be back tomorrow! :)
Over the weekend we checked out Sushi Tei Sydney- the only branch there is, right in the heart of the CBD here. Was strangely curious to try it after reading really bad reviews of this homegrown (of course, by this I mean Singaporean) chain. Service was pleasant, with the obligatory SOLE Japanese waitress thrown in for good measure; perhaps the management has been on eatability.com.au also and took into account the complaints of inauthenticity. Sushi chain = must have Japanese face. Geez. Some seriously narrow-minded people around. Food was mediocre. Menu is almost exactly the same (yes, have studied the Sushi Tei menu so well that I'm able to play spot-the-missing-food-item) so we ordered a Dragon Roll, Hanasaki Ika Tempura, Cha Soba and a Salmon Don. Dragon roll not warm, prawn not as huge as in Sg. Hanasaki was battered differently, quite delish actually but veering towards calamari almost. Was baffled when I requested tempura sauce for this dish and it came without radish (think only regular Jap-food eaters will know what exactly I'm waxing on about). Cha Soba was awesome, although I do think it would be quite hard to get cold noodles with dip wrong. Bency's Salmon Don was so-so I heard. Sashimi was not stunningly fresh, given the proximity to seafood in Australia but portions were quite similar. Prices also almost equivalent to those in Sg, so the only problem is currency difference then. Bill amounted to 40AUD, which converts, at this point of time, to 52SGD. All in all, felt that money could have been better spent on a more fulfilling dining experience but it certainly satiated my curiosity, making the trip worthwhile :) Might consider giving some feedback to the company. Would have snapped pics for all of you, but our camera is currently misplaced (HOPEFULLY not lost!) And this also explains the reason for Bency's MIA-ness from this blog. He'll be back soon, though (soon being relative HAHA); we're currently looking at some models. Ok some pics to end off! Have a great week ahead! Back to sitting on the lawn to thaw out, soak up some sunshine, have our lunch of pre-packed sandwiches with ham and basil (and by pre-packed I mean I make them at home before we set out. Yay me. Such a natural in the kitchen HAHA), accompanied by the mandatory hot choc (or overpriced Lipton Ice Tea if feeling brave). I love the campus here, and think that all universities should similarly have green grass and brown brick buildings :) Attended a chem lecture with Terentius just now and did try to pay attention to the professor explaining Le Chatelier's principle but got lost somewhere along the way. Endothermic/exothermic reactions anyone? Glad I dropped chemistry at O'levels... one of my better decisions I would say :) Ok, good day everyone! Oh no I forgot. Back in Singapore I bet it's TGIF!!!! all around. So happy weekend friends! :) Thanks for dropping by; I really appreciate it! Miss you all a great deal!
This is how I look barefaced. This is how I look after a really filling dinner prepared by the boys (Seng Leong and Roy, to be exact). We had steak, grilled potatoes, salad and garlic bread. I tried to appreciate wine again but probably failed. I'm so sorry to have to say that I'll rather happiness in a can any day (that's Coke for you!) This is how I look after 16.5 hours of pure unadulterated sleep :) I fell asleep at close to 11pm last night, woke at about 1 today (which left me with only 4 hours of sunlight), had lunch, then dozed off from 2-4.30pm again. If you think I'm being show-offy, well I am. This is absolute bliss!!! I was really flustered yesterday morning when I flew off, but my flight more than made up for my lack of sleep, because it was so smooth and the service was so excellent. I always know I am in good hands when I fly SQ :) We flew into Botany Bay close to sunset, and the water was really beautiful. I was thrilled when I landed, and I can't really describe the joy I feel to be back here again. 7.5hours is still a long time to be sitting down though, so thank God I breezed through customs even with 2 packets of sambal sauce and vitamin C pastilles to declare. First time in all our paktorship that Bency actually received me on time at the airport, so I was very happy about that too. Thai for dinner yesterday, and the fish cakes were OMG awesome, complete with Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief (am I even getting this right?!) with dodgy subtitles which the owner put on for us to watch while we ate! After that I caught my first episode of Glee (the pilot), and somebody please tell me it gets funnier/more entertaining as it goes along cos that really did not live up to the hype?!
Weather is beauuuuuutiful by the way; too cold to bare legs at night but one layer of clothing is enough thus far. My skin is taking to dry weather well also, except for the lips which will probably recover in no time with the help of my Khiel's balm! Miss all of you my friends! Thanks TaoTao for your comment! ;) Hi Lola!! We get back to emailing soon?? :) MeLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! play as hard as you can while still in Mexico! And Nina and Puan!! Check back whenever you can while at work. I try to be your caffeine. I try to entertain you guys :) HAHA. Till the next, All my love.
well, if I knew that this still worked, I would have continued long ago. It sure is a risk but I'll take it. I will keep pushing myself until the damn annoying recorded voice drones: Please stop writing. My resolve will keep wavering right until the last minute, I'm sure, but I will not give up. Most of all, I would like to think that even in appearing to conform to the notorious education system, what I'm actually doing is subverting it. Because over and above maintaining my gpa in its not-quite-comfortable-as-yet spot, what I want to do is prove to myself that I can see something through when I commit to it. And perhaps this is what would be the best thing that comes out of university life, amongst other wonderful experiences.
Anyway, just past sunrise now, and sleep did not come to me. So before hitting the books again, I'll just draw-up a to-do list here so I can get all these errands out of my mind. I'm not a list freak, just so you know. If you don't enjoy making lists, and consequently the therapeutic joys of crossing items off, then you are the freak. Haha! Good morning world! Have a great day everyone! :) 1. Check if SQ has processed my Letter of Indemnity. done. 2. Call Pedder Red to reserve snakeskin flats (tried, but could not get it out of my mind). done. 3. Online check-in before leaving for exam. done. 4. Bring books to return to Prof. done. 5. Text Kewei. done. 6. Text Pau. done. 7. Text insurance advisor 8. Print insurance document for aunt. done. 9. Hope I didn't miss anything out :/ In exactly a month's time, Terence and I will turn 7! :) Excited about that. Probably go somewhere dinnering at Darling Harbour, which he claims he owns and named after me *cue rolls eyes but heart actually very happy and doing somersaults. Haha...
First 2 papers went alright la. I never can gauge properly how I do, so won't speculate. Hope the final 2 will be better nonetheless. GPA GPA GPA. OMGOMGOMG. I always wonder how someone as flippant as I can be so gan cheong about my grades, but then again I tell myself that it is really wonderful to have a passion, and to finally be loving what I'm doing. I hope the same for everyone else. Don't know how my neck, wrists and brain are going to take 2 lit papers on Thursday, but I can see myself coming out of the hall being really, really, really just delighted that I managed to pull through :) Don't know how I'm going to survive girly time afterwards and be good company (Kewei! This is my confirmation to you. YES WE ARE ONZ). Don't know why ladybug feels so heavy already with not much inside her (ok, well. I will say that 15 magazines do weigh quite abit. OOPS! Haha). But ahhh, Sydney. I know you will bring me much joy. I can't wait :) It makes handling the stress so much better. SO much better that I'm almost jubilant. Jubilant but not detached. And therefore, I come to the end of my post leaving you with random photos of Sabella my darling. Although I'm notoriously anti-kids, my cousin is really not noisy even though she blabbers, has really soft skin and most importantly, appears to be storing things in her cheeks. Which is essentially all I want in my future offspring if I so choose to have some. HAHA. Back to books. Good luck with remaining papers everyone! |
